Pregnancy Massage

Gentle Relief for Expecting Moms

Being pregnant is an exciting time, but it can also be tough on your body! As your baby grows, your body changes fast. It is very common to feel extra tired, achy, and sore.

Prenatal massage is a safe, gentle, and relaxing way to help you feel like yourself again during pregnancy.

How It Helps Your Body Feel Better

Pregnancy puts extra weight on your joints and changes how you walk and stand. A gentle bodywork session can help with:

  • Lower Back & Hip Pain: Eases the deep ache in your lower back, tailbone, and hips as your body makes room for baby.

  • Sore Shoulders & Neck: Relieves upper body tension from carrying extra weight up front.

  • Swollen Feet & Ankle Relief: Helps bring down puffiness and swelling in your legs and feet.

  • Better Sleep: Unwinds your nervous system so you can fall asleep faster and rest deeper.

  • Less Stress & Worry: Gives you a quiet, calm space to relax and focus on yourself.

What to Expect

Every prenatal bodywork session at Maine Body Alliance in Portland, ME is tailored entirely to you and your baby’s safety. Here is what happens during your appointment:

Comfortable Positioning Built Just for Pregnant Bodies

Lying down comfortably when you are expecting can be tricky, but we have special equipment to keep you relaxed and supported:

  • Face-Down Comfort: We use a specialized pregnancy body cushion with custom cutouts. This safely supports your belly and hips so you can comfortably lie face-down during your session if you want to!

  • Side-Lying & Custom Adjustments: We also use soft pillows, bolsters, and body cushions to support your back, knees, and bump while you lie on your side.

Full 75-Minute Sessions

All prenatal massage appointments are 75 minutes long. This gives us plenty of time to work slowly and deeply without ever rushing:

  • Focus Area Relief: We can spend extra time on specific trouble spots—like tight lower back muscles, achy glutes, swollen ankles, or tense shoulders.

  • Full-Body Relaxation: Or, we can do a full-body therapeutic session to calm your entire nervous system and help you get better sleep.

Privacy, Safety, and Total Comfort

  • Always Covered: You will always be fully draped and covered by a clean sheet. Only the specific area being worked on (like your back or shoulders) is uncovered at any time.

  • Your Comfort Comes First: Your safety and comfort are the most important parts of your visit. We can adjust room temperature, pillow height, pressure, or positioning at any moment so you feel completely safe and relaxed.
